A shocking rise in violence in Shreveport has left the community deeply concerned, as the city’s homicide count has suddenly doubled within just a couple of days. The latest incident involved two men who died after a dispute turned deadly.
Double Homicide in Mooretown
Early Tuesday morning, around 12:45 a.m., Shreveport Police and emergency medical teams responded to reports of a shooting at a home on Forest Oak Drive in the Mooretown area.
When first responders arrived, they found two men inside the residence with serious gunshot wounds. Both were in critical condition and needed immediate medical attention.
Argument Escalates Into Gunfire
According to police, the situation began as a disagreement between the two individuals. The argument reportedly involved a damaged mobile phone.
What started as a verbal conflict quickly became physical. During the confrontation, one of the men pulled out a firearm. A struggle followed, and during that struggle, both individuals were shot.
Victims Die at Hospital
Both men were rushed to Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport for treatment. Despite efforts by medical staff, they later died from their injuries.
Authorities confirmed that the victims have been identified through fingerprint analysis, although their names have not yet been publicly released.
Sharp Rise in Homicides
This incident comes during a particularly violent period in the city. Before Sunday, Shreveport had recorded seven homicides in 2026.
However, after a separate tragic case earlier that day and this latest double homicide, the total number of killings has now risen sharply to 17 in just a short span of time.
Investigation Still Ongoing
Police have stated that the case remains under active investigation. Detectives are continuing to gather evidence and piece together the exact sequence of events that led to the shooting.
Authorities are also urging anyone with information to come forward to help with the investigation.
