The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office is searching for suspects connected to a major theft at a vacant church property in Hammond that caused more than $100,000 in damages and repair costs.
Large Theft Reported at Former Church Property
According to investigators, the theft happened at the former Harvest Church building located in the 17000 block of North I-12 Service Road in Hammond, Louisiana.
Authorities said thieves stole copper tubing, condensers, and parts from several air conditioning units on the property.

Surveillance Video Captured Suspects
The sheriff’s office said the theft happened around 9 p.m. on April 25.
Surveillance footage reportedly showed at least two suspects walking around the property during the incident.
Investigators described the first suspect as wearing:
- A light-colored shirt with a front design
- Jeans
- Light tennis shoes
The second suspect was reportedly seen wearing:
- A light shirt with horizontal stripes
- Jeans
- Dark-colored shoes
Authorities believe both suspects have dark hair and are between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 11 inches tall.
Vehicle Also Linked to Theft
Investigators also believe a vehicle connected to the theft was seen near the property.
The vehicle was described as a light gold or pewter-colored Nissan sedan.
Repair Costs Exceed $100,000
According to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, the stolen equipment and damage to the cooling systems caused repair and replacement costs to rise above $100,000.
Officials said the theft was discovered earlier this week.
Public Asked to Help Investigation
Sheriff Gerald Sticker urged anyone with information about the suspects or vehicle to contact the TPSO Criminal Investigations Division.
Authorities continue to investigate the case and review available surveillance evidence.
The incident highlights a growing problem involving copper and air conditioning equipment thefts, which often leave property owners facing major repair expenses and operational damage.
