A case at Grambling State University has raised concerns about campus safety after two students were arrested during an investigation involving weapons and drugs inside a dorm room.
Arrests at Grambling State University
Two 19-year-old students, Madrelyn McCray and Telek Love, were arrested on April 27 following a search at a dorm in Grambling State University.
The incident took place at Pinchback Hall after university police received a tip about firearms being kept inside a dorm room.
What Police Found
Officers arrived and spoke with Love, who allowed them to search the room. During the search, they found a handgun inside a drawer and a rifle in the room.
Authorities later confirmed that both firearms had been reported stolen. Love admitted that the handgun belonged to him but denied owning the rifle.
In addition to the weapons, officers found suspected marijuana, along with items like a digital scale and plastic bags, which are often linked to drug distribution.
Connection to the Dorm Room
Police identified the room as belonging to McCray based on personal belongings found inside. When questioned, she denied having any knowledge of the drugs or weapons discovered during the search.
Despite her statement, both individuals were taken into custody and transported to the Lincoln Parish Detention Center.
