Oregon – A man from Oregon is accused of sending dozens of threatening text messages to his probation officer, stating that he “was going to kill the president.” These threats came just weeks after being released from prison for previous threats to Donald Trump.
The Alleged Threats
Diedrich Holgate, 47, allegedly sent messages like, “Trump’s gonna fkn pardon me or I’ll kill him!!!!!” to his probation officer. He also reportedly told the officer, “I’m done playin, Dead Dead Dead,” according to a federal petition for his arrest.
Holgate, a Texas native, was convicted in 2024 for making threats against Trump and Joe Biden. These threats included social media posts, direct messages to the White House, and calls to the U.S. Secret Service.
Previous Threats Against Trump and Biden
In June 2024, Holgate allegedly called the Secret Service’s Washington Field Office, stating, “The president is going to die,” and adding, “I have the right to kill the president.” He reportedly said, “I don’t care if it is Trump or Biden.”
In August 2024, he allegedly called again, saying, “I will hang his ass for treason,” and threatened to “f—ing kill everybody”, including POTUS, FLOTUS, and SCOTUS.
Probation and New Threats
Holgate was released from prison on January 21, 2025, and ordered to live at a Portland halfway house. However, he was terminated from the halfway house for violating the rules by smoking a vape.
Soon after, he allegedly made multiple threatening statements to his probation officer, including:
“You’re with me or you’re a traitor & infidel that’s taken the Mark of the beast” and, “Second death. You’ll be erased.”
Court Hearing and Threats to the Officer
At Holgate’s preliminary hearing, the probation officer testified that Holgate repeatedly said he was “going to kill the President” and even threatened to “erase” the officer. Holgate also allegedly told the officer that he would “burn in hell” for reporting him.
The officer expressed concern that Holgate had the capacity to harm Trump. The judge ruled that there was probable cause to find Holgate had violated the terms of his release by making further threats and failing to follow probation instructions, such as failing to report to his officer and refusing to live in approved housing.
Next Steps
Holgate was ordered to remain in custody until his next hearing, scheduled for March 26, 2025. The judge also acknowledged that Holgate appeared to understand the charges and the consequences of his actions.
