Ladonna Delrie, the woman arrested in connection with the killing of former Rapides Parish Sheriff William Earl Hilton, is set to be arraigned on May 12. Delrie, who is currently being held at the Madison Parish Correctional Center, will be transferred to Rapides Parish for the court proceedings.
Indictment and Charges
Delrie was indicted by a grand jury on April 28 and is facing serious charges, including:
- First-degree murder
- Aggravated flight from an officer
- Simple criminal damage to property
These charges stem from the events of March 23, 2026, which led to Hilton’s tragic death.
The Incident
According to the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office (RPSO), the incident began when Hilton returned to his home in the Hineston area around 1 p.m. and found Delrie exiting his residence. When Hilton attempted to approach Delrie, she allegedly ran him over with her vehicle. Hilton suffered severe life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, he later succumbed to his injuries.
Pursuit and Arrest
Shortly after the incident, RPSO located Delrie’s vehicle speeding eastbound on LA 28 near Leavines Road. Authorities attempted a traffic stop, but Delrie refused to pull over, leading to a high-speed chase that reached speeds well over 100 mph.
The pursuit ended when authorities deployed spike strips at LA 28 and Cloverleaf Boulevard, successfully stopping Delrie’s vehicle. She was arrested without further incident.
Legal Proceedings
Delrie’s arraignment is scheduled for May 12, and the legal proceedings will continue as more details emerge. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities continue to track the case as it moves through the court system.
