A major child predator investigation spanning several months has resulted in the arrest of 22 individuals accused of attempting to exploit minors online.
Authorities say the operation targeted people who allegedly used social media platforms, messaging services, and computers to communicate with children for unlawful purposes. Among those arrested were three men from Mississippi, while the remaining suspects were residents of Louisiana.
Child Predator Operation Leads to 22 Arrests
Law enforcement agencies announced the arrests following a coordinated investigation conducted between January and May.
The operation was led by the Covington Police Department’s Internet Crimes Against Children Unit and involved assistance from the department’s Special Response Team, the 22nd Judicial District Attorney’s Office Special Victims Unit Task Force, and the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office.
Authorities said the investigation focused on identifying individuals who allegedly used online platforms to target minors.
Officials described the operation as part of ongoing efforts to protect children from online exploitation and abuse.
Three Mississippi Men Among Those Arrested
Among the 22 individuals taken into custody were three Mississippi residents.
Authorities identified them as Joseph Amacker, 38, of Pass Christian; Adam Wichers, 41, of Diamondhead; and James Howard, 30, of Hattiesburg.
Each suspect faces multiple criminal charges connected to the investigation.
Law enforcement officials have not released additional details regarding individual court appearances or legal representation.
James Howard Faces Multiple Charges
According to investigators, Howard faces the most extensive list of allegations among the Mississippi suspects.
Authorities charged him with three counts each of indecent behaviour with juveniles, child grooming, attempted production or possession of child s**ual ab*se material, and computer-aided solicitation of a minor.
The charges stem from allegations that he used electronic communication methods to engage in unlawful conduct involving minors.
Prosecutors will be required to present evidence supporting the charges as the case moves through court proceedings.
Charges Filed Against Other Mississippi Suspects
Authorities also filed charges against Adam Wichers and Joseph Amacker.
Wichers has been charged with indecent behaviour with juveniles, child grooming, and computer-aided solicitation of a minor.
Amacker faces charges of indecent behaviour with juveniles and child grooming.
Investigators have not publicly disclosed specific details regarding the allegations against each defendant beyond the charges announced.
As with all criminal cases, the accused individuals remain presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Investigators also revealed that one of the individuals arrested was already a registered s*x offender at the time of the operation.
Law enforcement officials did not release further details regarding that individual’s identity.
Nineteen Louisiana Residents Also Arrested
In addition to the three Mississippi suspects, authorities arrested 19 Louisiana residents during the operation.
Those individuals face various charges related to child exploitation investigations.
The allegations include computer-aided solicitation of a minor, child grooming, indecent behaviour with juveniles, and offences involving child s**ual ab*se material.
Each case will proceed separately through the court system.
Police Chief Highlights Commitment to Child Safety
Covington Police Chief Michael Ferrell praised the efforts of investigators and partner agencies involved in the operation.
According to Ferrell, protecting children from online predators remains one of the department’s most important responsibilities.
He stated that law enforcement agencies will continue monitoring online activity and pursuing individuals suspected of targeting minors through digital platforms.
Officials stressed that similar investigations are expected to continue in the future.

Authorities confirmed that the operation is still active and that investigators continue examining evidence and pursuing leads.
