A new announcement from the U.S. Department of State has sparked discussion, as officials revealed plans to release special passports featuring Donald Trump as part of the country’s 250th independence anniversary celebrations.
New Passport Design Announced
According to a State Department official, these redesigned passports will soon be issued, starting with applicants who renew their passports in person at the Washington Passport Agency. For those using online services or other locations, the current passport design will continue to be used.
The updated passport will include Trump’s image and his signature in gold on the inside cover, based on a released mockup.
Part of America’s 250th Anniversary
The new design is being introduced to mark the 250th anniversary of US independence, which will be celebrated in July. A spokesperson, Tommy Pigott, said that these passports will feature customised artwork and enhanced visuals.
Despite the design changes, officials confirmed that all security features will remain the same, ensuring that the passport continues to meet global standards as a highly secure identification document.
Limited Release Planned
Authorities have indicated that only a limited number of these commemorative passports will be issued. However, the exact number has not yet been shared. The rollout is expected to begin during the summer.
Additional Design Details
The back cover of the passport will reportedly include artwork from John Trumbull’s famous painting of the Declaration of Independence.
Currently, US passports feature artwork by Percy Moran, showing Francis Scott Key after the Battle of Fort McHenry. This image, along with lines from the national anthem, appears on the inside front cover of existing passports.
Other Commemorative Items
This passport is part of a larger effort to mark the 250th anniversary. The Department of the Interior has already introduced new national park passes, some of which feature Trump alongside George Washington.
In addition, a commemorative coin featuring Trump’s likeness has been approved by the Commission of Fine Arts.

In recent developments, Trump’s name has also been associated with institutions such as the Kennedy Center and the United States Institute of Peace.
