Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) and controversial podcaster Benny Johnson have faced backlash on social media after they posted two photos from Hillary Clinton’s behind-closed-doors deposition.
The incident led to a brief halt in the proceedings, as the photos violated a privacy agreement with House Oversight Chair James Comer (R-KY).
Social Media Backlash and Suspension of Deposition
According to CNN, Clinton briefly paused the deposition after the photos surfaced on X (formerly Twitter), as they violated the conditions set by Comer, who had insisted that the hearing not be televised. Boebert and Johnson’s actions caused a stir, with many social media users accusing them of intentionally derailing the hearing.
Criticism from Social Media Users
On Johnson’s X feed, several commenters expressed frustration, questioning whether the duo’s actions were an attempt to sabotage the hearing and protect those implicated in the Jeffrey Epstein case.
One commenter said, “They name dropped you specifically. Hopefully, you or Boebert aren’t trying to sabotage the hearing as to protect billionaire pedophiles.”
Other social media users, including MAGA supporter “Mojo,” criticized Boebert and Johnson for causing the hearing to be halted. One user, T3xasG1rl, lamented, “Why didn’t you wait until it was done? Now they have stopped. Thanks Benny.”
Supporters Express Concern Over Possible Legal Repercussions
Supporters of Benny Johnson also voiced concern, with one user commenting, “I hope you have some good lawyer friends. You may have crossed a line here, even if you didn’t intend to.” Another user, Stephen Fitzgerald, expressed frustration over Johnson’s involvement, stating, “On your show earlier today, you said you had an insider, and now we know who. The incident also drew criticism from the left, with some accusing Boebert and Johnson of attempting to sabotage the deposition.
