A drug-related arrest in Louisiana has led to multiple charges after deputies acted on a tip about a wanted individual. The case highlights how quick police action and community information can help in stopping illegal activity.
What Happened in Ville Platte?
According to the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office, deputies received information on April 20 about a man with an outstanding warrant travelling in a silver Ford Fusion.
The suspect, identified as Brandon King, 43, was reportedly leaving the Lake Cove area when narcotics agents located the vehicle and carried out a traffic stop on Highway 106.
Arrest During Traffic Stop
When officers stopped the vehicle, King was asked to step out. As he exited, authorities say he tried to hide evidence by stomping on a small plastic item near the passenger side door.
Investigators later confirmed that the item contained a small amount of meth.
Drugs and Items Recovered
After taking King into custody, deputies conducted a search and found multiple illegal substances on him.
They recovered several quantities of methamphetamine, along with a glass pipe that also contained traces of the drug. In addition, officers found pills identified as Clonazepam, which is a controlled substance.
The total items recovered included different small packets of meth and multiple pills, indicating possible distribution-related activity.
Existing Warrants and Charges
Authorities confirmed that King already had an outstanding warrant before the stop. The charges linked to that warrant included distribution or intent to distribute meth, possession of Clonazepam, illegal carrying of weapons, and simple escape.
Following the traffic stop, he now faces additional charges related to drug possession found during the arrest.
Driver Released
Officials stated that the driver of the vehicle was not involved in the case and was released at the scene without charges.
