LOUISIANA — Three people from Baton Rouge have been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that took place Wednesday evening at a McDonald’s in Watson, officials said.

What Happened

The shooting happened around 7 p.m. at the McDonald’s near the intersection of Louisiana Highway 16 and Springfield Road. The victim, 26‑year‑old Mitchell Ventress, was found at the scene and later pronounced dead.

Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard said deputies were called after reports of a shooting. Witnesses told officers that two men exited the passenger side of a vehicle right after a gunshot was heard.

Suspects Identified and Arrested

Authorities identified three suspects:

  • Kevonta Dennis, 25
  • Keedrick Jack, 39
  • Keondra McNeely, 26

All three were taken into custody and are currently being held in East Baton Rouge Parish. They are expected to be moved to the Livingston Parish Detention Center soon.

What Police Say Led to the Shooting

Investigators say Dennis and Jack had gone to the McDonald’s parking lot to meet Ventress for a drug transaction. During that meeting, Ventress was shot and killed, according to officials.

Police later found the suspect vehicle in the Central area of East Baton Rouge Parish, where Dennis and McNeely were detained.

Ongoing Investigation

The investigation into the shooting is still active, and authorities continue to gather evidence.
