A 33-year-old man in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is facing multiple charges after allegedly threatening to kill his parents and engaging in a lengthy standoff with police.
Alleged Threats Inside Family Home
According to reports, Vance Lee was at his parents’ home near 68th Street and West Brentwood Avenue when the situation escalated over two days. Authorities say he threatened his parents while armed with both a rifle and a handgun, at one point telling his brother, “We are all dying today.”
His parents reportedly stayed locked in their bedroom out of fear, telling police they were concerned for their safety. Despite their fear, they expressed that they still cared about their son but could no longer manage the situation.
Armed Standoff With Police
The Milwaukee Police Department responded to the home on the morning of March 28. Officers ordered Lee to come out, but he allegedly refused and barricaded himself inside.
During the standoff, police say Lee shot down a drone from inside the home using a shotgun. Authorities responded by surrounding the residence, deploying tear gas, and bringing in armored vehicles as the situation stretched into the evening.
Surrender and Weapons Recovered
After approximately 14 hours, Lee surrendered to police around 10:20 p.m. When officers entered the home, they reportedly found multiple weapons, including a shotgun, several rifles and handguns, body armor, and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.
Charges and Court Appearance
Lee has been charged with several offenses, including failure to comply with law enforcement, disorderly conduct, endangering safety with a dangerous weapon, and multiple counts of firearm possession by a convicted felon.
He was taken into custody and is being held on a $50,000 bond. Authorities say he is scheduled to appear in court on April 7.
