An Ohio woman is facing serious criminal charges after police say she attacked another person during a dispute and allegedly gave a surprising response when questioned about her intentions. The incident has drawn attention because of the unusual statement police claim she made during her arrest and the severity of the allegations against her.
Ohio Woman Arrested After Reported Fight
According to court documents, 48-year-old Amanda McClure was arrested on the afternoon of May 27 after officers with the Toledo Police Department responded to reports of a physical altercation.
When officers arrived at the scene, they reportedly found McClure and another individual who had been involved in a dispute. Authorities said both parties acknowledged that a physical confrontation had taken place.
The identity of the other person involved has not been publicly released, and police have not disclosed the nature of the relationship between the two individuals.
Police Allege Assault During Altercation
Investigators claim McClure physically attacked the other person during the incident. According to the affidavit, she allegedly struck the individual with her hands and pulled their hair during the confrontation.
Police further allege that the situation escalated when McClure used lighter fluid during the encounter. Authorities claim she sprayed the liquid onto the victim’s face, eyes, and body.
Officers also reported that McClure was holding a lighter when they arrived at the scene.
The allegations have led investigators to treat the incident as a potentially dangerous assault rather than a simple physical dispute.
‘Maybe’ Response Draws Attention
According to police, an officer directly asked McClure whether she was attempting to kill the other person.
Court documents state that McClure allegedly responded with a single word: “Maybe.”
