A Long Island man is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly attacking his 75-year-old mother during a violent argument inside their home.
According to the Nassau County Police Department, John Strano, 37, has been charged with attempted murder, assault, criminal obstruction of breathing, and weapon possession.
Alleged Violent Confrontation
Police say the incident happened Wednesday evening at a residence on Broad Street in Williston Park.
During the dispute, Strano allegedly pushed his mother to the ground, repeatedly struck her head, and punched her in the face multiple times. Authorities also allege he choked her and hit her with a blunt metal object.
Prosecutors claim he used a metal clamp during the attack and made disturbing statements while assaulting her.
Victim’s Condition
The woman reportedly lost consciousness and suffered significant injuries, including swelling and cuts to her head and face.
She was transported to a hospital, where she is currently listed in stable condition.
Arrest and Charges
After the incident, Strano fled the home but was located nearby by responding officers. He was taken into custody and transported to a hospital for evaluation.
He later pleaded not guilty to the charges during a court appearance.
Ongoing Case
The investigation remains ongoing as prosecutors prepare their case. If convicted, Strano could face serious prison time due to the severity of the charges.
