A 48-year-old Georgia man, Kelvin Demond Williams, has been sentenced to life in prison without parole plus an additional 100 years after being convicted of murdering his wife and shooting his stepson. The conviction follows a brutal attack that occurred in Woodstock, Georgia, in July 2025, which shocked the local community and led to a swift trial.
The Murder and Attack
The incident took place around 10:40 p.m. on July 13, 2025, at a home on Daventry Crossing, located approximately 10 miles north of Marietta. According to reports from the Cherokee County District Attorney’s Office, a 16-year-old boy called 911, telling operators that his stepfather was shooting at him and had just shot his mother.
The teenager, hiding in a bedroom while his 4-year-old brother slept in another room, was not physically harmed.
When law enforcement arrived, they found Kelvin Williams in the kitchen, calmly smoking a cigarette. Upon entering the home, police discovered Tenisha Williams, 48, dead from a gunshot wound, lying in the kitchen next to the murder weapon. Authorities quickly removed the surviving children from the home, who had not been physically injured.
The Crime Scene and Trial
During the nearly four-day trial, jurors were shown in-home camera footage that captured the shooting. The footage revealed that Kelvin Williams first fired at his stepson, missing his head. He then fired two shots at his wife, followed by another shot aimed at his stepson as he ran to safety. The fifth and final shot hit Tenisha Williams, killing her as she pleaded for her life.

Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Rachel Ashe stated that Williams had systematically isolated and controlled his wife for years, even going so far as to require her to wear a Bluetooth device to monitor her movements when she left the home.
On the day of the murder, evidence revealed that Williams had instructed his wife to purchase and load the firearm he would later use to kill her.
Family members testified during sentencing, revealing the extent of Williams’ control over his wife, including forbidding her from speaking with her adult children and preventing her from attending her own mother’s funeral. The judge described Williams’ actions as “unfathomable,” while District Attorney Susan K. Treadaway called the violence inflicted upon the victim “evil and inexcusable.”
