It’s time to get creative, Rebels!

The powers-that-be at Riverside Academy have announced the themes for this year’s Friday pep rallies.

First up is Friday’s pep rally to hype up the season-opener against Newman. The theme is “Come on Rebels, Let’s Go Party,” with a Barbie theme. Students may dress as Barbie and Ken or wear their best school appropriate beach wear.

On Sept. 15, the Rebels will host the Central Catholic Eagles, so the theme is “Hunt the Eagles.” Student may wear school appropriate hunting gear, camouflage, orange vests, boots, etc.

Friday, Sept. 29 is homecoming and Alumni Night. Students are asked to wear their best red, white and blue.

The Rebels will host West St. John on Oct. 13 and the Rebels will once again go “Lights Out.” Students may wear black and neon for the glow-in-the-dark pep rally.

Finally, the Rebels will host Varnado on Oct. 27. Since it’s so close to Halloween, “Let’s Scare the Wildcats” by wearing school appropriate Halloween costumes.

Students must follow the guidelines in the student handbook regarding dress down days.

No offensive language, signs or symbols may be worn. No tight clothing may be worn. Student may wear sweat pants or school appropriate jeans if following the theme. No sleeveless shirts, hoodies or midriffs may be worn.

Students may paint faces and use colored hair spray, but both must be applied before arriving at school. Wigs, props and hats are allowed but must be removed if a teacher asks or finds it distractive.

Leggings may be worn only if loose fitting shorts are worn as well.

Flip flops, sandals and Crocs are not allowed.
