Riverside Academy fifth grader Paxton Wheelahan got a day off from his regular classes Wednesday, but he still had lots to do.
Wheelahan got to oversee the Academic Signing Day held in the gym, got to follow assistant principal Dominique Zenon on her appointed rounds, and even observed a high school teacher at work. It was all part of Wheelahan’s duties as Principal for a Day, a prize he and his parents won at the recent Spring Fest silent auction. Wednesday was National Principals’ Day across the nation.
While enjoying a lunch of tacos with Mrs. Zenon in the courtyard, Wheelahan said his favorite task was the Academic Signing, during which the seniors proclaimed their future college plans. There is more adventure in Wheelahan’s future. He also won a day as Parish President for a Day.
