A man claims he was having a birthday dinner with his wife when a Northshore sheriff ambushed him

Bobby Couvillon, a local podcaster, says he was attacked by St. Tammany Parish Sheriff Randy Smith.

Alleged Incident

Couvillon told WWL-TV that he and his wife were celebrating his birthday on Friday at Keith Young’s Steakhouse in Madisonville when the alleged assault occurred. He claims someone approached him from behind and began choking him.

Couvillon has previously criticised Sheriff Smith on his podcast, and he said there had been ongoing tension between them.

Response from the Sheriff’s Office

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office confirmed that an incident involving Sheriff Randy Smith occurred on Friday, May 29, at a restaurant in Madisonville. The office said they have contacted the Louisiana Attorney General’s Office to ensure a fair and thorough investigation. Sheriff Smith and his agency stated they will fully cooperate with outside authorities.

Investigation

Attorney General Liz Murrill’s office confirmed it has received the request for investigation but declined further comment due to the ongoing nature of the case.
