A 46-year-old bicyclist, Douglas Prichett, died after being struck by vehicles in Bridge City early Wednesday morning.

State troopers said an unknown vehicle first struck Prichett while he was riding his bicycle along Seven Oaks Boulevard.

After hitting the cyclist, the driver left the scene without stopping, making it a hit-and-run crash.

Second Driver Stopped and Called for Help

Shortly after the first impact, a pickup truck traveling in the area also struck Prichett.

The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene and contacted authorities.

Victim Died at the Scene

Emergency responders arrived shortly after the crash and found Prichett severely injured.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators also noted that the bicycle did not have visible lights, which may have affected visibility in the early morning hours.
