A man from Labadieville has been arrested in a child exploitation investigation after authorities discovered alleged illegal material on electronic devices, according to the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Investigation began after state referral

Investigators said the case started after they received a referral from the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services.

Following the referral, deputies began investigating the situation and obtained evidence related to possible child exploitation offenses.

According to authorities, investigators seized multiple electronic devices on March 6 as part of the investigation.

Suspect arrested and charged

The suspect was identified as 33-year-old Garrett Russell Mollere of Labadieville.

Deputies arrested Mollere on Friday after examining the electronic devices and gathering evidence in the case.

He faces numerous charges, including:

  • 36 counts of possession of child sexual abuse materials involving children under the age of 13
  • 18 counts of possession of child sexual abuse materials
  • 3 counts of possession of unlawful deepfakes

Authorities said the charges relate to materials allegedly discovered during the investigation.

Bond set at $1.5 million

Following his arrest, Mollere was booked into jail.

Officials said his bond has been set at $1.5 million.

Investigators have not released additional details about the case while the investigation continues.
