St. James baseball defeats Donaldsonville and wins its first district title in program history

St. James Baseball made history on Tuesday, clinching their first district title in program history after sweeping a doubleheader against Donaldsonville. The Wildcats dominated both games, winning the first contest 15-0 and the second 16-0.

A Historic Victory Under First-Year Coach

With the victories, St. James secured the district championship in Phil Adams’ first year as head coach. Adams expressed gratitude for the team’s belief in his vision and hard work. “When they met me in June, they just happened to believe in everything I say.

They took my words and they ran with them,” Adams said. “They worked hard. I influenced them to stay after practice, take ground balls, come before practice, and they just bought in. When you work hard, man, you get rewards. When you do the little things right, you get big rewards.”

Looking Ahead to Saturday’s Game

St. James will return to action on Saturday, traveling to take on Ellender. The game is set to start at 11 a.m.

High School Baseball Coverage

You can catch more high school baseball action on WGNO’s Friday Night Fastball, presented by Delgado Community College, Step Closer to Unstoppable. The first episode airs Friday, April 10, at midnight on WGNO, with a special replay on Saturday at 9 p.m. on WNOL.

Note that the regular 11 p.m. Friday broadcast can be viewed this week on the WGNO+ app or streamed online. The WNOL Friday show will not air due to a live Texas Rangers game.
