Southern Sweethearts dance team wins at state competition

The Southern Sweethearts took first place in their category and third overall at the American All-Star State dance competition held Feb. 27-28 in Lafayette.
The Sweethearts finished first place in an open dance category with a performance to “Take Me to Church.” They also finished second in pom dance and fourth in the jazz dance competition.
Members of the team are: Lexie Heltz, Jaycee Bennett, Ariana Matt, Christy Louque, Kaylee Oubre, Amiee Duhe and Anaiah Harvey. The team is under the direction of Darryl Clement.
