Newman beats Rebels 42-20

The Rebels went to war last Friday night against the Newman Greenies and their star quarterback Arch Manning and came up short.

The Greenies beat the Rebels 42-20 at Michael Lupin Field.

Manning led the team to victory with five touchdowns, four passing and one on the ground. He was 9 of 22 for 221 yards with no interceptions.

Riverside running back Elijah “Bill” Davis scored three touchdowns, including a 74-yard run on the third play of the game’s opening drive. He also scored on a 34-yard receiving touchdown and a 1-yard run. Davis ran for 270 yards 37 attempts.

The Rebels (1-1) will play at Central Catholic of Morgan City this Friday at 7 p.m.
