Rebels Swat Down Cohen Hornets, 56-6

The Riverside Academy Rebels overran an outmanned Cohen Green Hornets team 56-6 on Friday night at Mickey Roussel Field.

The Rebels rolled to a 49-0 halftime lead before easing up on the Hornets. Cohen scored its lone touchdown in the final minute, after Coach Lee Roussel had cleared the bench.

Elijah “Bill” Davis led the offense with his running attack, rushing for 154 yards and three touchdowns on five carries. Luke Hymel was 5 of 7 passing for 63 yards and three touchdowns. He also ran twice for 21 yards.

The Rebels’ defense was stellar, holding the Hornets scoreless for 47 minutes and forcing two fumbles. One of those fumbles was recovered by two way lineman Amiree Alexander. The other, forced by Scott White, was picked up by lineman Noah Trepagnier (the Sports Editor of The Rebel Express), who returned it for a touchdown

The Rebels will take a road trip to Varnado on Friday to take on the Wildcats  7 p.m. in Angie.
