The Riverside Academy Rebels volleyball team opened up its 2023 season on Thursday with a 3-1 loss to Destrehan.
Although the Lady Rebels lost they showed signs of potential in players Layla Price and Chloe St. Pierre. Layla Price, a seventh grader, had six kills with a 25 percent hitting percentage. She also had digs with an assist. Junior Chloe St. Pierre had 27 digs and four assists. She also had six kills. Corrin Cashio had four aces. Courtney Bordelon had eight digs.
“I am very excited to see what this team has to bring to the table,” said Lady Rebels coach Brandi Melancon “This team is way more jelled and ready to just have fun, and that is the most exciting thing.”
The team will play at Lutcher on Tuesday and will host St. Thomas Aquinas on Wednesday.
