The Riverside Academy Rebels football team opened its season on an upbeat Friday night, taking a 55-18 road win over St. Thomas Aquinas.
The offense was on top of the performance with a total of eight touchdowns.
Dedric Lastie rushed for 218 yards on 14 carries and scored four touchdowns. He also had three receptions for 14 yards. Lastie turned it on in the third quarter, scoring three of his four touchdowns in a span of five minutes. He ran for a 51-yard score, later broke several tackles on a 21-yard touchdown run and scored from 17-yards out untouched with 1:32 left remaining in the quarter.
Kendrick Johnson gained 53 yards on seven carries. Martrell Henry rushed for two touchdowns, one for five yards out and the other from 10.
Quarterback Brock Bourgeois had a pair of touchdown passes. He connected with Mason Smith early in the second quarter on an 83-yard score and found Brennan Maus for a 27-yard touchdown.
Amiree Alexander recovered a fumble for the defense.
The Rebels will host Newman Friday night in their home opener at Mickey Roussel Field.
