The Riverside Academy Rebels beat cross-river rival the West St. John Rams 55-0 in a one-sided blowout Friday night at Mickey Roussel Field.
The Rebels scored seven of their eight touchdowns in the first half. All of the second half was played with a running clock.
Quarterback Brock Bourgeois completed 6 of 7 passes for 137 yards and four touchdowns. Three of Bourgeois’ touchdowns went to eighth grader Kenric Johnson, who finished with three catches for 67 yards. Mason Smith had one reception and ran it in from 40 yards out for a touchdown. Running back Dedric Lastie rushed for 117 yards and scored four touchdowns on 15 carries.
The Rebels defense did not allow the Rams to cross the 50 yard line and allowed only one first down the whole game. Junior cornerback Kaden Brumfield also had a interception early in the second quarter.
The Rebels will take a road trip to Algiers Thursday night to take on the Landry-Walker Buccaneers at Morris Jeff Park (formerly Behrman Stadium).
