The Riverside Academy swim team competed in the St. James Aquatic Center’s River Parish Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 14. This meet was open only to local River Parishes schools including: St. James High, St. Charles Catholic, Destrehan, Lutcher, and Hahnville.
Senior Courtney Bordelon competed in the 200 yard freestyle and the 100 yard freestyle in and qualified for the State Meet in both.
With that, she and coach Christy Duhe made a deal.
“Before I swam at the meet on Saturday, Corrin (Cashio) and I made a deal with Coach Christy that if I qualified in my two events, we could stay in a room together for State,” Bordelon said. “Coach Christy said it was the fastest I’ve ever swam in my life.”
Bordelon joins a host of other Rebel swimmers who have qualified for next month’s State Meet in their individual events.
Rebel swimmers have only three more chances to qualify for State. The next meet will be held Saturday at Crawfish Aquatics in Baton Rouge at 8 a.m.
