The Riverside Academy baseball team will launch its 2024 season on Monday, Feb. 19 at H.L. Bourgeois High School in Gray. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m.
The team returns four senior players in Brennan Maus, Craig Matt, Jaymes Tamplain and Wayne Hymel. The rest of the roster includes Cameron Matt, Kaden Brumfield, Brock Bourgeois, Chance Tyler, Ayden Bullock, Ben Duhe, Brody Vicknair, Jayce Ruiz, Ryan Poche, Legend Guerra, Eli Guidry, Gage Thompson, Cruz Cambre and Colten Diamond.
Coach Marty Luquet will begin his 28th season as a head coach, his third as head coach of the Rebels. Luquet is only five wins away from reaching 500 victories in his long career. He came to the school in 2019 as an assistant coach under Craig Laborde before taking over the program the following year. Before Riverside, Luquet spent one year at John F. Kennedy High School, 10 years at O.Perry Walker, one year at St. James and 15 years at Destrehan.
