Riverside Academy honored its fall athletes at its annual fall banquet held on Wednesday, Feb. 21 in the school cafeteria.
Athletes who participated in volleyball, swimming, and football received certificates and other awards from their coaches.
Junior Chloe St. Pierre received the Offensive MVP award in volleyball. Junior Lanie Hymel was the Defensive MVP. Senior Courtney Bordelon was presented with the Coach’s Award.
In swimming, Beau Brock and Taylor Duhe received awards for their performances.
Running back Dedric Lastie was named the Offensive MVP in football and defensive lineman Dayton Gipson was named the Defensive MVP.
Senior lineman Noah Trepagnier received the Rinzo Clement Award, a coaches’ award given to a football player who exhibits strong work ethic and character as well as leadership abilities.
Senior lineman Amiree Alexander received the 54th Annual Henry Donaldson Mr. Rebel Award, which is named for Riverside Academy football player who collapsed and died during a spring football practice in 1973.
“I thank God for letting me finish my season through my adversity and I am extremely honored to be a legacy like Mr. Rebel,” Alexander said. “I also appreciate all my teammates for holding me accountable as a leader. I appreciate my coaches for not only being a coach, but also for being role models for me and my teammates. This was a good run. I’m proud to have been a part of the Riverside Rebel family.”
