River Parishes residents in search of cabbage and mustard greens for their New Year’s dinners were in luck this year. All they had to do was find members of the Riverside Academy baseball team in front of the Home Depot in LaPlace or in front of Tri-Parish Trophies in Reserve. That’s where Rebels players and parents were staked out with piles of produce from Perrilloux’s Farm in Montz. Players planted their stock in September then harvested it this week before the sale.

Rebels baseball coach Marty Luquet said the three-day fundraising event was a great success, especially since it was the first time Riverside participated.

“We want to thank everyone who came out to support the Riverside baseball team,” Luquet said. “It was a great team effort by the players and their parents. And a special thanks to Tim Perrilloux of Perrilloux farms for supplying us with the produce.
