The Riverside Academy swim team got its 2023 season started Saturday at the St. James Parish Aquatic Center’s SJPS HS Season Opener. Along with the Rebels, teams from Destrehan, Hahnville, Lutcher, St. James, St. Charles Catholic and The Willow School competed.
The Rebels had five swimmers qualify for State, including two first time high school swimmers that include. Seventh grader Beaux Brock qualified in the 100 yard breast stroke and eighth grader Hannah St. Martin qualified for the 50 yard freestyle.
Other qualifiers were Emma Babin in the 100 yard breast stroke, Sofia Galvez in the 100 yard freestyle, and senior Brennan Maus in the 50 yard freestyle.
Several other swimmers reached personal best times in their events.
The Rebels will next compete on Sept. 16 at 9:30 a.m. at the St. James Aquatic Center in Lutcher.
