Rebels players celebrate with Chaz Evans (No. 80) after he scored his first touchdown against Crescent City.

The Riverside Academy Rebels football team finished the season strong with a 63-0 win against the Crescent City Pioneers, clinching the District 9-1A championship.

The Rebels started off strong getting the ball first and scoring within the first minute.

Junior wide receiver and quarterback Preston Brown ran for a touchdown from three yards out and caught one from five yards out. Running back Dedric Lastie had 82 yards and one touchdown on eight carries.  Eighth grader Chris Becnel ran for 60 yards and one touchdown on 5 carries and running back Cameron Matt also had 5 carries and a touchdown.

Jared Campbell, Chaz Evans and Lastie scored on special teams; Jaedon Butler returned an interception for another score.

The Rebels finished the regular season with a 9-1 record and earned the No. 5 seed. They will have a bye this week and will have a home second round playoff game on Nov. 17 against the winner between Catholic Point Coupee and Cedar Creek.
