Softball team loses in QFs, Coach Regalo steps down
END+OF+AN+ERA

There will be new Division IV Select softball champion in 2024 after defending champion Riverside Academy lost to Sacred Heart of Ville Platte 3-2 on Friday, April 19.

The Lady Rebels ended their season at 19-8. Riverside had been to semifinals at the State Tournament in Sulphur 10 of the past 12 years and six seasons in a row.

The game wasn’t the only loss for the team. After nine seasons, head coach Tamra Regalo has announced that this season was her last at Riverside. Regalo was The Times-Picayune’s Small Schools Softball Coach of the Year in 2015, her first year at RA,

after taking the team to the semifinals, and again in 2023 after her team won the state championship.
