The Riverside Academy Rebels opened their new era of basketball under head coach Donavan Maryland with a surprising upset last week. Riverside defeated Class 5A team John Ehret, 69-64. Cade Middleton led the Rebels with 25 points, 10 assists and four rebounds. Terrell Hillard had 20 points and Chris Cenac finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

The Rebels will face John F. Kennedy Wednesday as part of the Sophie B. Wright Tournament.
