The Rebels came out and crushed the Eagles, 43-0.

After a hard loss to the Newman Greenies, the Rebels got back on track Friday night with a big 43-0 win last year’s Division IV Select No. 2 seed,  the Central Catholic Eagles.

The game got off to a rough start for the Rebels with a fumble on the first offensive play, but the defense got a stop. After struggling to move the ball, Kendrick Johnson finally got the the Rebels on the board with a 3-yard run in the second quarter. On the next Eagles drive, Kaden Brumfield intercepted a pass and returned it to the Eagles’ 40-yard line. Dedric Lastie put the Rebels ahead 14-0 with a 15-yard touchdown run. Brennan Maus caught a 14-yard touchdown pass from Johnson to put Riverside ahead 21-0 at the half.

Lastie finished with 160 yards and three touchdowns on 14 carries. Johnson, who spent most of the night in the Wildcat formation, rushed for 78 yards  on 12 carries.

Riverside will go on the road this week to play the Houma Christian Warriors in a non-district contest.
