Riverside Academy’s swimmers will head to Sulphur for the State Swim Meet this week.

After a successful season and several last chance meets, the Riverside Rebel Swim team is going to State!

The Rebel swimmers will head to the Sulphur Parks and Recreation Aquatic Center Wednesday and Thursday to compete in the Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s State Swim Meet. The Division IV preliminaries will be held Wednesday with the finals to be held on Thursday.

The girls competing are: Emma Babin (100 breast); Courtney Bordelon (100 free, 200 free); Corrin Cashio (100 back); Hannah St. Martin (50 free, 100 free); Sofia Galvez (50 free, 100 free); Cami LaRose (50 free, 100 breast); Kayla Rummel (200 free)’ Jordan Duhe (200 free); Taylor Duhe (100 free, 100 back); Brinley Roccaforte (50 free).

The boys competing are: Beau Brock (100 breast); Brennan Maus (50 free, 100 free); Brody Vicknair (50 free, 100 free).

The girls also qualified in all three relays; the boys qualified in two.

Kayla Rummel is one of those who qualified at one of the later meets.

Rummel said, “At the beginning of the year my goal was to qualify for state as an eighth grader. That Wednesday everything felt kind of different. I had a good feeling about that meet.
Before I swam, Jordan kept telling me that today was going to be the day that I’m going to do it and I actually did it. When I got out of the pool I looked at Coach Christy and she was holding
the state paper while smiling and said that that was one of the fastest times I’ve ever swam.”
