It is with a heavy heart that I say this, but my era as the editor of The Rebel Express is coming to an end. This past year has gone by so fast, but I wouldn’t change that for the world.
In May of 2023, Mrs. Lyons asked me to take the job as editor of The Rebel Express and I was and still am forever grateful for the life-changing opportunity. I think my experience as editor can best be summed up as lively and vibrant. As a quiet student who doesn’t have many friends, this opportunity gave me a voice within our student body and allowed for me to come out of my shell. The voice that this opportunity gave me will be forever changing for me, because for the first time in my high school career, I felt seen and like I had a purpose.
But since my reign as editor is ending, I’d like to give some advice:
1. It’s okay to not know what you want to do after high school.
2. It’s okay to be quiet and shy.
3. And lastly, it’s okay to be conflicted about graduation. Just remember that even though your high school career is over, the world isn’t and you are about to enter the next beautiful chapter of your life, no matter what it may be.
This is my final goodbye as editor. I would like to thank my parents and family for supporting me in my journey with this role. Thank you to the wonderful Mrs. Lyons for this opportunity in the first place. I wouldn’t be where I am today without your teaching. Thank you to Mrs. Mazzella, who has always encouraged me to do my best in everything I do, especially writing. I am so excited for the future and I look forward to seeing what this website will produce in the future and I wish all the returning and new staff members the best of luck.
So long, Rebel Express. On to the next chapter.
